Triggers Defeat Fuego 24-8

July 14 2023 The Trinidad Triggers scored in six of eight innings and defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 24-8 at Fort Marcy Park. Trinidad collected 17 hits and took control with a seven-run second inning after Santa Fe opened the game with five runs. The Triggers added five runs in the fourth and six more in the eighth to pull away.

Alec Aleywine led Trinidad at the plate and on the mound. He went 4-for-4 with a home run, five RBI and four runs scored, while earning the win after allowing six runs, three earned, on 11 hits in six innings with nine strikeouts and four walks. Jakobe Smith added a home run, six RBI and two runs, and Jason Rooks homered while driving in two runs. Jake Urena also hit a home run and finished with three RBI.

Quinterrious Arrington and David Arza each had two hits and two RBI for the Triggers, who also received two hits and four runs from Rooks. Santa Fe had 13 hits, led by Parker DePasquales three hits, two RBI and home run, and Omar Ortizs three hits. DePasquales two-run homer helped the Fuego produce their five-run first inning, but Santa Fe managed only three additional runs the rest of the way. Alex Williams took the loss after surrendering 13 runs on 10 hits in three innings.
