Garden City Wind Crush Santa Fe Fuego 21-6

June 22 2024 The Garden City Wind defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 21-6 at Fort Marcy Park, scoring 23 hits in the high-scoring victory. Garden City built an early lead with two runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second and third before carrying an 11-5 advantage into the ninth. Jordan Williams led the Wind attack with five hits and five RBI. Adam Purdy went 3-for-6 with four runs, three RBI and two home runs, while Dominic Enbody added three hits, four runs and one RBI. Colton Adams also collected three hits, scored three times and drove in two runs. Garden City hit seven home runs overall, with additional long balls from Adams, Enbody, Williams, Joey Wright and Pierce Khan. The Wind broke the game open with 10 runs in the ninth inning. Santa Fe scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth, once in the eighth and once in the ninth, but could not match Garden City’s offensive production. Tristan Cavazos hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Fuego, while Ryuya Enomoto and Dominic Scotti each had two hits. Jake Norris earned the win for Garden City after allowing seven hits and four earned runs in four innings. He walked five and struck out two. Sam Katz worked a scoreless inning, and Brendan Beard allowed one run while striking out five over 2.2 innings. Greg Salazar took the loss for Santa Fe after surrendering 13 hits and seven earned runs in 4.1 innings.
