July 6 2024 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 18-9 in a high-scoring game at Fort Marcy Park. Trinidad collected 10 hits and scored in six innings, including a nine-run second inning and a three-run sixth, while Santa Fe finished with nine hits and scored twice in the first and four times in the second before adding three runs in the sixth.
Jacob Mitchell led the Triggers with two hits and five RBI, while Luis Amador went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Rafael Castaneda added a home run, four RBI and a run, and Jakobe Smith homered while scoring three runs. Trinidad also received two RBI from Humberto Maldonado and a four-run performance from its offense in the ninth-inning scoring summary.
Santa Fe was led by Jake Grubesic and Zeke Hass, who each recorded two hits and scored three and two runs respectively. Hass hit a home run and drove in three runs, while Tristan Cavazos also homered and finished with two RBI. Kevin Gutierrez added a home run and an RBI for the Fuego.
Castaneda earned the win after allowing seven hits and six runs over five innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Trinidads bullpen combined for four scoreless innings, with Armando Duran, Paul Mendoza and Angel Garza each working a scoreless inning. Hamlet Peralta took the loss for Santa Fe after allowing nine runs in 1.2 innings, while Dominic Scotti struck out nine over 5.1 innings.
