Trinidad Outslugs Santa Fe 21-14 in High-Scoring Battle
The Trinidad Triggers scored in every inning and collected 19 hits in a 21-14 victory over the Santa
Fe Fuego on Thursday night.
Trinidad jumped ahead with three runs in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a two-run home
run from Jeremiah Cabuyban. Santa Fe answered with two runs in the bottom half before erupting for
six runs in the second inning to take an 8-5 lead.
The Triggers quickly regained control with seven runs in the third inning. Trinidad added two runs
in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth and three more in the seventh to pull away.
Brody Rasmussen led the Trinidad offense by going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, three runs
scored and five RBIs.
Cabuyban homered twice and finished with two hits, two runs and four RBIs. Wyatt Morgan added two
hits, a home run and three RBIs, while Michael Acosta went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Bryce Hayman recorded three hits and scored four runs. Chris Viamonte also had three hits, scored
three times, drove in two runs and stole four bases. Will Hudler contributed two hits, including a
double, and scored twice.
Santa Fe produced 20 hits in the loss. Andrew Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, three
runs and four RBIs. Alex Elliott added three hits, three runs and three RBIs.
Sam Freedman led the Fuego with four hits, including two doubles, while scoring twice and driving in
two runs. Terrance McGowan collected three hits and an RBI, and Connor Hickey homered, scored twice
and drove in a run.
Chip White worked six innings for Trinidad before Brenton Thiels finished the game. Despite allowing
14 runs, the Triggers turned two double plays and played error-free defense.
Trinidad took advantage of four Santa Fe errors and finished with four home runs as the Triggers
secured the 21-14 victory.
